17k p.a. plus benefits

AudienceI've just noticed that I installed clustermaps 1 year ago. In that time this site has received over 17,000 hits. If only 1 in 10 of those actually represented somebody reading something I've posted, that's still more people than I've preached to in person in the past 12 months!

So thanks for dropping in, next time, bring a friend.

Finally - Categories!

I've just got around to putting my posts into categories, not mean feat when you have 2 years of posts to go through. In fact I haven't quite finished and there may well be some posts that are not in the best categories, and then there's posts that need to go in multiple categories... Well at least I have started!

Why not give them ago (left sidebar)?

Mirocsfot

Just downloaded the latest update of Internet Explorer - now no webpage looks right - text all over the place.

Did you know microsoft is an anagram of Mr Foot (Sic)?

Not Quite 193!

GlobeI've just had a look at my latest clustermap (see link in sidebar below) and see that since June this site has been visited from 59 countries; not quite the full 193 nations of the world, but 30% of the way!

If you are visiting from a more exotic location (you can decide on the definition of exotic) why not leave a comment to say hello?

Welcome to Blogdom...

Richard Bentall - an excellent young (well, my age) man in our congregation. I'm looking forward to all Rich will bring to the blogoshere.

Also, if you haven't yet checked out Katie Peak's site - drop in an have a look. Katie's away at Bible School and regularly testifies to the wonderful provision of God.

Mark Anderton is another (relatively) recent addition to the world of blogs - although apparently he'd originally given up blogging before any of us had heard of blogs. Mark is a wonderful man of God and was the chief arranger and lead trumpet at Without Borders '06.

I must actually get around to posting something original and insightful soon!

Still Alive!

LogocolourI have today managed to load BTbroadband onto my new laptop so perhaps I will now find it easier to post regularly! But I am still alive, and well and enjoying God and life.

This post is just to encourage you to check out the new Living Rock Church website. There are some good resources on there as well as a lot of info and some pretty pictures! A big thanks to Rich, Tim, Chris and Alix for all the hard work.

I'll Be Back

Lake_annecy_smallWe're off on our hols tomorrow so no more blogging for a week or two. Why not have a trawl through the archives - even I've forgotten half of what's in there!

Where Have All The Bloggers Gone?

I notice that a lot of my blogging comrades are taking a break right now, so I feel obliged to try to post more regularly!

I myself will be going on holiday on 14th August and will be speaking at the School of Worship Summer School this Sunday to Thursday, but I will try to squeeze in some posts in the meantime.

I find it encouraging that the blog traffic dies down a bit in the summer - perhaps we aren't all addicted to our computers after all! I have added a few new links to blogs of friends who have recently entered blogdom - why not check them out?

A Little Bit of Politics

PrezzaAs someone who has always seen John Prescott as an electoral liability to Tony Blair I can't believe that Blair hasn't taken the opportunity of recent events to ask for his resignation.

Whilst I may concede some ground to the conspiracy theory that this story was brought to the surface now (after all the affair has long since ended) to deflect the heat from Charles Clarke, if that were the idea it's not working!

The point of this post though, is not the call for the resignations of any politicians - but rather to draw attention to the out-of-whack moral standards by which our society is (mis)guided.

The biggest defence of Mr Prescott has been that "he has not broken the ministerial code of conduct." How valid can such a code be if it doesn't include "if you are married, don't have an affair with a member of your department"? Morality (at least in the government's eyes) is pragmatic - "did his behaviour affect his ability to do the job?" But morality goes to the core of who you are and the principles that guide every aspect of your life.

In our present government culture even morality is measured by outcomes!

As Christians we must be determined to live morally consistent lives - where what we are convinced of determines the way we act and speak. Out morality flows from the fact that "the kingdom is within you" - and whatever fills the heart will always overflow into words and actions, whether you are John Prescott or Billy Graham!

"Have you got anything without spam?"

"...Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it."

The spammers have found me, so from now on all comments will be autheniticated before being posted. Please don't stop commenting though!
